I received a call the other day, a normal, ordinary day, from a bride who lives in Bellevue, MI. That's a little over an hour away from Brooklyn, MI. We scheduled her personal visit and I asked her a few common questions: what's your wedding date and who are you bring with you? Then, I patiently waited for her to visit.
Yesterday, Mindy came to my boutique, and I have to tell you, she made my whole day! Mindy traveled to many bridal shops before she ended up at my boutique. She was obviously on a mission to get the Perfect Gown and I was geared up for the challenge. I gave Mindy the tour of my boutique and an introduction to my services; I am a wedding planner still; and then off into the dressing room we went with only two gowns. I admit I was scared to bits that I was not going to be able to make this work for her. Mindy tried only one of the gowns on. I thought I was doomed. I thought I was failing this bride. And then, the most spectacular thing happened...she trusted me! She allowed me to show her a smaller sample of the dress she had her heart set on. Even though she was not able to try it on, she trusted my expertise and we ordered her Perfect Gown. I have no reservations about this gown for her, I know she will look beautiful.
Off she went, another hour drive home, and one more TOP priority checked off her wedding to-do list...and me with the biggest smile in my heart for her allowing me to be part of it.
